Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria

Topping the list of my comfort food is definitely pizza. I love the combination of carbo I get from the pizza crust and all the goodness of my favorite toppings. That’s why when we got invited to Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria’s Bloggers Taste Test in  RFM Corporate Center in Pioneer Street to try the new items on their menu, Ken and I were both excited and were looking forward to adding them to our list of pizza places we’d be frequenting.

Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria is a very casual restaurant that now boasts of their contemporary Italian-American menu, with a li’l sweet twist to satisfy the Pinoy taste. They have recently re-enhanced their image from a Mafia style menu. Even their menu design is more vibrant in colors, using more photos to encourage customers to try out other items on their menu other than the usual and familiar.

We loved the interiors of Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria, obviously inspired by New York City. We were personally attracted to their custom-made lights. And I love the colors, well, mainly because they used black and red.

Some may be taken aback to see Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria’s menu and find that their prices are very affordable (check here). They may look like a very high-end restaurant, but you can enjoy their food without worrying too much about paying a premium, one of the reasons why we are recommending them to fellow foodies.

They recently added seven (7) items on their menu – 4 pizza flavors, 2 appetizers and a lunch meal. With their pizzas, they decided to stick with thin crust and just come up with varying toppings. Their dough is made with a secret ingredient and the toppings are made fresh everyday, too. Expect no pre-baking of ingredients in the Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria Kitchen, especially at their RFM Corporate Center branch in Pioneer Street as it’s the home of their commissary.

Now, on to their latest menu additions. The first dish that was served to us was their Baked Cheesy Fries, a plate of russet fries combined with their house special meat sauce and overloaded with chili flakes, white onion, cheddar and cheese sauce. We both loved the saltiness. And being cheese lovers, we had to force ourselves to stop eating this ‘cause we’ve got more food coming. 😀

Next was their Shrimp Fresh Salad, a plate of Fresh Romaine lettuce tossed with honey mustard dressing, topped with shrimps, croutons and parmesan cheese. The saltiness of the cheese was a perfect combination to the sweet and sour taste of the dressing. Definitely something we’d order more of next time.

We were then served Joey Pepperoni’s Barbecue Chicken Wings. The chicken wings are deep-fried to goodness then tossed with their very own special barbecue mixture.

After having a taste of this barbecue chicken, we wanted more! The chicken meat was very tender. I actually had doubts I’d enjoy it ‘cause I’m not really fond of barbecue flavored anything. But, the barbecue flavor wasn’t as overpowering as the ones I’ve tried. It was really good that it whet our appetite. Will definitely go back for these! I can finish 12 pieces without sharing. 😀

We didn’t eat the rice part of the Barbecue Chicken Wings meal because we know what’s coming – 4 new pizza flavors of Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria! 😀

First up was their 3-cheese and Mushroom pizza. They had me at 3-cheese :D. The combination of mozzarella, white cheese and cheddar, with béchamel, anchovies, mushroom and caramelized onion on top was truly pleasing for the cheese lover in me.

Next was their Double Tops pizza trio, starting with their Beefy Mushroom Pizza. It’s topped with mushrooms, mozzarella, cheddar, toasted bacon bits and white onions.

Being a meat lover, the Beefy Mushroom pizza was my favorite… well, that is before I got a taste of the Taco Pizza. I love Mexican food and tacos. I even prepare tacos as snacks at home. With all the mozzarella, beef bits, tomatoes, white onion and cheddar cheese topped on the pizza, it takes the number one spot among all the pizzas we’ve tasted that day.

Last pizza to be served was the Mushroom Alfredo. It’s prepared with béchamel sauce, topped with ham, garlic, mushrooms, red onions, toasted bacon bits and mozzarella. I love white spaghetti dishes, so I also enjoyed this very much. This is Ken’s favorite.

We were very full, but we sure had room for dessert. They served us their Pizza Cookie Dough. It’s vanilla ice cream on top of a chewy cookie, drizzled with chocolate syrup and bits of semisweet chocolate.

I’ve been craving for weeks so I was hoping they’d serve us their own gelato. Guess what, they did! We got to try 3 of their best sellers – Chocolate, Oreo Cheesecake and Pistachio flavored Gelato. So delightfully good, especially because they used semi-sweet dark chocolate on their choco gelato. I love dark chocolate! 🙂

It was truly a great meal. We even recommended that our mom bring her friends to dine at their branch in SM Annex in North Edsa to try their menu. We’ll definitely visit them again. We surely would order a plate each of their Barbecue Chicken Wings. 😀

  1. Their pizza’s okay, not the best but delicious in its own right. haven’t tried anything else except pizza though. 🙂

  2. I used to live very near Joey’s in Pioneer, but I’ve been there once only. IMO, their food is not very much unforgettable and the prices are a little high.

    1. Thanks for sharing your views. But, comparing their prices with other pizza places we’ve been to, they’re not as expensive as you think. One of the popular pizza stores actually offer Family sized pizzas at Php 400+ when Joey’s prices start at Php 300.

You might want to try their new pizzas we featured here because they’ve recently re-enhanced their menu. I think they’ll change your mind about Joey Pepperoni. 🙂

  3. I tried Joey’s Pepperoni in Cubao (Gateway ata yun) when me and friends saw the buy one take one pizza and pasta. We were so full after the meal. 🙂 Sayang I haven’t tried their new flavors, I’m very much into pizza din kasi. 😀

  4. joey pepperoni’s is not good compare to other pizza joints like gino’s oven baked pizza in katipunan and papa john’s. i noticed that you always have something positive to say about all the food u eat which gives a misleading review. you guys suck. a bunch of fakes.

    1. Thanks for using my brother’s blog name in your comment. Getting comments from anonymous people makes us question the intention behind it.

Anyway, it’s just rude for you to disrespect the fact that we may have different foodie experiences or preferences when it comes to flavors we taste. We honestly enjoyed everything they served to us that day so everything we said here were true based on OUR experience. If you don’t like their food, then, that’s your experience, not ours.

Even when we’re invited to events or food tasting, we are completely genuine with anything we write here.

Actually, we just don’t mention that there were events and restaurants we were invited to, and food products that were sent to us that we chose not to post about here because we didn’t like the experience completely. But, if we PAID for our food, we will continue to write about it no matter how positive or negative our experience was.

If you’re REALLY reading our posts, you’d see that we do give criticism or negative comments on anything that merits them. However, we’re not that picky or snobs. We love food and we try our best not to compare restaurants from each other because that’ll be unfair to them when we’re sure they’re not trying to imitate their competitors. If we weren’t completely satisfied or we didn’t get our money’s worth, you’d see that written on our REVIEW.

Oh, by the way, this post is NOT A REVIEW. It’s a feature. We were invited to their food tasting to let everyone know about their latest products. We weren’t there to review their food. We just shared our experience.

Lastly, please take everything you see on the internet and blogs with a grain of salt.

And thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I just wish next time, you’d have the balls to reveal yourself. 🙂
