An Exciting New Beginning with Breakfast Magazine

Aside from our love for food, Ken and I also share a passion for writing. As far as I can remember, I’ve always kept a journal or a notebook where I write my deepest thoughts and a few random things. Ken also has a knack for writing and, in fact, he was the one who wanted to put up his own blog first, but I beat him to it. With all that said, it’s been a dream of ours to be published in a broadsheet or a magazine. And this year, we fulfilled it. We’re glad to be part of Breakfast Magazine.

Breakfast Magazine is the newest foodie publication in the Philippines today. You might be thinking that all we talk about in the mag is breakfast, what people generally consider the most important meal of the day. The magazine is all about food – may it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the enjoyment of food  in between.

The maiden issue of Breakfast Magazine was launched this month. It’s a bi-monthly publication and every issue, we follow a theme. For February and March, it was just expected that it’s all about love and food. πŸ™‚

Food Bloggers have their own section in Breakfast Magazine - CertifiedFoodies.com

When we were approached to be part of Breakfast Magazine, we were excited about it, but wondered if we are ready. This food blog will only turn 2 this year (we have a giveaway coming up!), but we are indeed touched by the overwhelming support we’re getting from fellow certified foodies. We love blogging and writing, but we thought coming up with articles for a magazine is a completely different ballgame. But, we brushed those doubts aside and we agreed.

And, so, here’s a preview of our article in the maiden issue of Breakfast Magazine – about food and chivalry. We featured Dolor’s Kakanin, Benmore Scotch Whiskey and Arny-Dading’s Peachy-Peachy. If you want to read what it’s all about, buy a copy! πŸ™‚

What can you expect from our articles? Well, the same quirky food adventures, but this time, made and written for a magazine. ;)

We’re now focused on improving our photography skills for the magazine features πŸ˜‰

You might be wondering how we write these articles. Though only one writes or composes everything, we brainstorm on what we could add or points we need to make sure are in the article. It’s another fun bonding activity for us, especially because we now go on more foodie adventures to discover new places and food we could write about in the magazine and on our blog. Cool, eh? πŸ™‚

Along with me and Ken, 2 other food bloggers, who we absolutely love, are part of the team – Fitz Villafuerte of The Thirsty Blogger and Jill Bantang of The Food Scout. Here are their articles in the maiden issue:

Ken and I weren’t able to attend the magazine’s launch two weeks ago because we’re stuck with work and responsibilities outside of our blogs. We heard it was a successful event, graced by celebrities, food lovers and chefs who are part of the magazine, including Chef Tatung and Chef Sandralyn Hataway of Tourne, and, of course, Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo.

Here’s a teaser of Judy Ann’s lovely feature in the magazine:

I’m not really a big fan of her before, but because of how much she’s grown as a woman (career- and relationship-wise) and being a mother (oh, I love that part of her story), and knowing we share the same passion for food, I can’t help but be amazed by her. If you’re a fan of Judy Ann, you MUST check the multi-page feature on her in Breakfast Magazine’s first issue.

Aside from the articles and foodie discoveries you’d find in the magazine, there are also a ton of recipes that should keep you and your kitchen busy.
