Chocolate Lover : A Baking and Confectionery Store

There are many things I’m currently enjoying about Ken being in culinary school. First, of course, is everything he bakes or cooks at home so he can practice or prepare for an upcoming test or lab activity in school. I especially loved these cream puffs and éclairs he made for our birthday celebration weeks ago. Everyone loved them! 🙂

Secondly is shopping with him for ingredients and tools he’ll need at home. One of our favorite stores now is Chocolate Lover in P. Tuazon in Cubao, Quezon City.

Chocolate Lover - a store for your baking, confectionery and packaging needs

If you’ve passed through their area in QC, we bet you saw the eye-catching design of their building. I mean, seriously. How can you miss this castle?

Cool, right?! As soon as I saw it, I was like, “Dang!”. I love their exteriors! I bet a lot of people who have Directory of items you can buy from Chocolate Loversdriven past that street have stopped to admire how the whole building looked.

Alright, now, moving on. 😀 Chocolate Lover is a specialty store for your baking, confectionery and packaging needs. They sell molds, chocolates, nuts, cocoa powder, flavorings, cups, baking pans, and a lot more.

On the right is a photo of their products directory (click on it to view the full size). I tell you, if you’re into baking, you HAVE to visit Chocolate Lover. The prices are reasonably more affordable than when you buy from the grocery store. Plus, there are some ingredients being sold in Chocolate Lover that you can’t find at regular supermarkets.

We’ve only been here twice – first was when Ken already started his baking and pastry classes. Second time was before our birthday party.

We asked if we can take photos for promoting of the store here on our blog and we were only allowed to take 3. They were watching me so pardon the photos. 😀

The Chocolate Lover castle errr building also houses the Castle of Baking and Confectionery Arts.  They teach you how to decorate cupcakes, bake (pies, cinnamon rolls, cakes, etc), make delightful frosting and even polvoron. Check out their class schedules on their website here. Here’s a photo from their website and if you’re planning on putting up a pastry business, you might want to give their classes a try.

Seriously! How cute is this bag / cake?! 😀

Here’s a map to the location of Chocolate Lover in P. Tuazon: Map to Chocolate Lover in P. Tuazon

I got that from their Facebook page (link below this post). If you know Cubao, there’s a street right in front of SM Hypermarket in Main Avenue. It’s that corner where the Samson College building is located (is that the name? I can’t remember, but it’s Samson something). You just enter that street and look to your right. The Chocolate Lover building is at the corner of P. Tuazon and C. Benites St. Like what I said earlier, it’s pretty hard to miss. If you’re taking a cab, you might just even mention it’s a castle and the driver will already know where to go. Either that or they’ll take you to Star City. 😀

Chocolate Lover is open daily, but here are their store hours:

  • Monday to Saturday – 9am to 6pm
  • Sunday – 9am to 12:30 noon

According to the sign at their doors, they’re closed during Sundays of April and May. Also, you must check their website or their Facebook page or email them (info@achocolatelover.com) to find out their schedule this coming Christmas season in case you’ll be needing baking supplies.

  1. i love Chocolate Lovers! Super nalula ako when I first came here. I initially just wanted to purchase boxes but gave in and splurged!

Mukha nga silang strict kaya hindi ako nakapag take ng photos while I was inside 😛

  2. I was SO grateful to have found Chocolate Lover. Until I tried to pay using a Union Bank Visa Check Card. After 1.5 hours of shopping and racking up 4998 pesos worth of stuff they couldn’t wrap their brains around what a Visa Check Card is nor could I convince them to just try running the card as a local credit card. VisaCheck has been in the Philippines for 5 years now but the “manager” wasn’t aware of it.

“sir, we don’t accept debit cards”.

No problem, just run it as a local credit card.

    “Umm, for a while”.

They refused to swipe it. 35 minutes going back and forth asking each other what to do and searching for the manager (who had just disappeared) and all they would do is keep asking me to wait. The line was stopped and they refused to open another register so EVERYONE was stuck. Finally after 45 minutes I’d had enough and just swiped the card myself and of course it WORKED!

So while I love that I FINALLY found a place to buy powdered buttermilk after 8 years of searching I’ll never step foot in that place again.

If you’re too stupid / lazy to keep up with methods of payment that have been around for FIVE YEARS….

If you’re too cowardly to just try swiping a card b/c you’re afraid the world will stop spinning…..

If you’re such a bad manager you leave an upset customer and go sit on your BUTT in the “wholesale” department while your minions who you have not trained or empowered to make simple decisions run around in circles like chickens with their heads cut off…..

Well then you won’t be getting any more of my business

    1. Awww… so sorry to hear about this. 🙁
I agree with you, they should’ve tried it first.
And it sucks that their manager didn’t address or mitigate the issue.

      1. Thx for feeling my pain 🙂 It is what it is. There’s cultural thing here where staff just doesn’t seem to care about losing customers but I have seen MUCH less of that over the past 8 years of living in the PI. Gets better every day. Honestly, I think that’s why I was so angry about it. On the drive home I was talking to my wife explaining it was so frustrating b/c it felt like I was back in Philippines of 2004!

        1. Yeah, that’s what we’ve observed too. There are stores and even some restaurants/food places where they don’t care if they lose a customer. They have this thinking that it’s just one customer, but it adds up, especially when people are all over social media now, sharing their reviews on blogs, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. One negative review will result to a domino effect.

          1. Heh, exactly. That’s how I found your blog. Given I voiced my opinions on the manager and staff’s poor performance and got no resolution I took to the interwebs. Heh, I’ve been working on the web since 1994 if you can believe it so I know a trick or two. Google Chocolate Lover in Quezon City (either google web or google image search) and you won’t find a site in the top ten I haven’t posted to. :))

Haven’t gotten around to posting my blog post about this incident but for sure when I do it’ll have a high impact. For some reason Google seems to LOVE my rants. Google “pldt complaints” and I’m the sixth result down :))
