Carol’s Texan 5 First Bloggers Buffet

by | Aug 13, 2011 | 3 comments

I know that this is a super duper uber late post (exaggeration was intentional), but it’s never too late for you to learn about Carol’s Texan 5.

Weeks ago, me and Ken had the privilege to be included in the shortlist of bloggers for Carol’s Texan 5’s first ever bloggers buffet. The restaurant was inspired by American cuisine, particularly from the South, hence the Texan theme. And if you knew us well, you’d know we LOVE their food.

We met Carol, the woman behind Carol’s Texan 5. That’s her with Tristan of Ten Minutes Tops who organized the buffet. Carol told us the story behind the beginnings of her restaurant. It was truly inspiring to hear, especially now that my bro and our family are hoping to start our own restaurant in the future. Carol shared that she only used to prepare food for her friends and officemates. They loved her food so much that they encouraged and pushed her to open her own restaurant.

Basing it on everything we had that night, I can tell you that Carol cooks with passion and with love. Homemade delicious food indeed. And I know EVERYONE who were at the first ever Carol’s Texan 5 Bloggers Buffet would agree.

There were three (3) dishes that we got to try that night, buffet-style. Above is a photo of some of the bloggers who braved the storm to get a taste of heartwarming food Carol and her team has prepared for us. We were all just casual, most were wearing shorts and it didn’t really matter if anyone was still wearing their dickies scrubs from work since we were really all after the food. 🙂

One of the dishes that we got to try was their Tomato Basil Pasta. Though I prefer my pasta with meat, well except for pesto, I still enjoyed this one, especially when it was combined with the ribs and wings that were also served to us.

Next is their Dynamite Wings. By the name of this dish, I was expecting it to be very spicy. I guess they tried to mellow it down just so everyone would enjoy, but I hoped there was more spiciness in there.

Though I would prefer Ken’s buffalo wings because of the spiciness, we still enjoyed Carol’s Texan 5’s wings because the marinade and coating were really good. I actually remember all of us at the table agreeing on how yummy they were. And considering they prepared all the dishes buffet-style, the flavors were all there.

Lastly was the ribs. Oh, I love, love, love it! The succulent sweetness and smoky flavor of their Ultimate Texan Ribs is just unforgettable. I would’ve wanted more if I wasn’t already too full. 😀

For dessert, we were served scoops of Magnolia Ice Cream, one of the sponsors that night. Even it rained hard that day, it was still the perfect creamy way to end a night of delicious food.

Here’s the menu of Carol’s Texan 5 again. I would definitely go back for everything we had, most especially the ribs, and to try other items on their menu.

Thank you Carol, Tristan, Fern C, Cliq, San Miguel (we got to taste their Antonov vodka – watch out for our post about it), Coca Cola, Photo Balloon (oohh, Ken and I got one and it was really cute. Great for kid parties!), Club Travel Now, Cgnal and all the sponsors who made the first ever Carol’s Texan 5 bloggers buffet possible. 🙂
