Jollibee Peach Mango Sundae – A Sweet Twist on a Classic

Jollibee’s Peach Mango Pie is one of our long-time favorites. We enjoy it nice and warm, with the sweet flavors of the peach and mango filling oozing out of the crisp pie crust. We also love it chilled. Ken and I are even fond of dipping it in Jollibee’s vanilla sundae, and we both agreed they should start offering a Peach Mango Sundae. Guess what, our wish has been granted! 😀

Jollibee Peach Mango Sundae

When we heard about Jollibee’s new Peach Mango Sundae, we didn’t waste any time. We just had to try it. It’s as good as we imagined. The bits and pieces of the sweet and tangy peaches and mangoes on top of the creamy vanilla sundae were simply perfect together. 🙂 We also paired it with Jollibee’s Peach Mango Pie. Ang sarap! You have to try it! 🙂

Finally, the McRib! We’re Loving It!

Seeing all the hype online about McDo’s McRib sandwich only made Ken and I salivate with anticipation to finally taste it. Only select stores had them available when we first heard that it’s finally here in the Philippines, so we had to control our craving for it. 😀

McRib giveaway!!

Fast forward to over a week ago, McDo sent us McRib sandwiches, and I invited my office friends after work to taste it with me. We had a McRib party! 😀

Experience Japan’s Sakura Season at Tokyo Bubble Tea

For hundreds of years, the Japanese people have been observing their “Hanami” tradition, where they enjoy picnics under the blooming cherry blossom trees during Japan’s spring season. Travelers all over the world are packing their bags to join in on the celebration. But like the most of us, we don’t have the free time and—let’s admit—the financial capacity to splurge on a trip just to witness Japan’s iconic Sakura Season. But don’t fret; Tokyo Bubble Tea has finally brought the Sakura Season right to the Philippines with their newest offerings—the Sakura Bento Trays and Sakura JCC Milk Teas.

I dragged my good friend, Rose Ann, with me since she’s more familiar with the Japanese culture. She’s an online English tutor and it’s her amazing job to talk with Japanese people all day. We visited the Tokyo Bubble Tea at SM North EDSA The Block in Quezon City for it’s the branch nearest to us.

Upon entering their store, we were greeted by their very accommodating staff. One was even game enough to strike a pose for a picture. This branch has limited seating capacity. I remember my family deciding to have dinner here one time, but we had to wait 15 minutes to get seated because the place was jam-packed with customers. I was also quite surprised with their cake display, since the last time we were here, they only had a handful of cakes to choose from. Now they’re selling more than 10 varieties of cakes, and they all look so sweet and delicious!

Jollibee Big Burger Steak : For Your BIG Appetite

I’m sure many of you would agree: there’s something about Jollibee that keeps us coming back for more even with the wide variety of restaurant choices that are available to us. 99% of the time that we visit a Jollibee store, I just have to order their Burger Steak. I’ll have to admit, it’s my favorite alongside their Chickenjoy. So when I heard about Jollibee’s Big Burger Steak, I simply had to have it. 😀

The distinct taste of Jollibee’s Burger Steak is something I seem to always crave for. My friends, and Ken, can attest to this. And the Big Burger Steak definitely satisfies my big appetite. 😀

Hole in the Wall: Not Your Typical Food Court

Filipinos love dining at food courts for three main reasons: variety, convenience, and affordability. However, there also exists two major drawbacks that are quite off-putting to diners. First, most food courts allow similar food concepts to compete with each other, so it’s a familiar scene to see 2-3 sizzling or Filipino cuisine concepts in one food hall. Secondly, some of the food being offered are so mediocre that one would wonder how they were permitted to put up their shops in the first place. What if we tell you that there’s a new food spot in Makati that has all three reasons why we love food courts, minus all the drawbacks? Yes, there is and it’s Hole in the Wall at Century City Mall.

Hole in the Wall

Hole in the Wall at Century City Mall is redefining the term, “food court,” by featuring a curated and hand-picked list of food purveyors in a space one would not typically associate with a food court. At first glance, the place would remind you of hawkers in Singapore, but once you’ve taken a good look around, you would know that food courts don’t look as fancy and modern as Hole in the Wall.

The Greenhouse

The dining area is divided into 5 sections: The Greenhouse, The Den, The Barn, Al Fresco area, and the whole second floor. The Greenhouse is the first area that would greet you once you come into Hole in the Wall. The tables and seats here are a good mix of plush couches, wooden chairs, and benches.

Hearty Pan Chicken Set from Pancake House

We were invited by Pancake House to try their newest offering – the Hearty Pan Chicken Set, so, yesterday, one lazy Sunday afternoon, we decided to pay them a visit at their Dela Rosa, Makati branch.

It was our first time at this branch. Quaint is the perfect word to describe it for its limited seating capacity. We usually frequented the one in SM North EDSA when we were still staying at Malabon. Even then, we’ve always ordered their crispy pan chicken.

Pancake House's Hearty Pan Chicken Set

You can get the Hearty Pan Chicken Set for only PHP 568, which is already good for 2-3 persons. The store manager informed us that it can even be shared by up to 5 persons. Yes, we believe that it’s possible, but not with the voracious appetite we were sporting when we arrived.

The Hearty Pan Chicken Set comes with 5 pieces of Pancake House’s classic pan chicken, 3 scoops of mashed potatoes, and a big plate of their house salad.

Tokyo Tokyo’s Maki and Shrimp Katsu Donburi + GIVEAWAY!

We’ve talked about Tokyo Tokyo before, but it was mainly because of their Chicken Karaage, which we LOVE! It’s one of our guilty pleasures. We have other favorite dishes on their menu, but we’re here to talk about the new Maki and Shrimp Katsu Donburi that we’re sure many already tried and enjoyed.

Tokyo Tokyo Maki and Shrimp Katsu Donburi

We’ve also mentioned about how much we’re into Japanese food. It even tops Ken’s favorite cuisines. What we like about Tokyo Tokyo is that we can have our tasty Japanese food fix at affordable prices. So if you’re craving for Donburi, you might want to try these 2 new delicious options.

The Maki Donburi bowl is Tokyo Tokyo’s play on their popular California Maki, which includes a combination of crunchy Kani and crisp onion rings drizzled with zesty Japanese Mayo and a savory sauce.

The Shrimp Katsu Donburi, on the other hand, is a variation of Tokyo Tokyo’s Katsudon. Crunchy shrimp patty smothered in rich sauce on top of hot rice. I think this will be Ken’s pick, and I’ll go with their Maki Donburi.

You can order these Donburi bowls for Php 85 a la carte, and Php 99 if you want the meal with your choice of soft drink.

Burger King BK Stacks and Chicken Crisp Fillet

With all the burger shops opening all over the Metro, ranging from affordable to really pricey, it’s good to know that there’s one place you can easily go to when you need a burger fix – a place familiar and you know won’t disappoint. I’m talking about Burger King.

Burger King BK Stacks

Burger King was our go-to place for burgers from way back and so we trust them to always deliver, with their 100% flame-grilled beef burgers. Ken and I always order Burger King’s Whopper. When they came out over a month ago with the BK Stacks burgers, we just had to go and try it. They also sent us gift certificates, which was perfect timing. 😉

Burger King BK Stacks - choose your burger

When you order the BK Stacks, you have the option to pick how many patties you want – 1, 2, 3 or 4. Obviously, Ken was more than willing to take on the 4-patty King Stacks burger, I got the next one in line – the Chief with 3 patties. Our nanay wanted the Chief, but she went for the next best thing – 2 patties, the Boss. 😀 We took home the Dude with 1 patty.

Tokyo Tokyo Ramen : What’s Your Ramen Personality?

Dining at Tokyo Tokyo has been one of our guilty pleasures, even though we haven’t written much about it on the blog. I just can’t count the number of times my favorite Fried Chicken Karaage has comforted me during the toughest of days. And I still remember being sorely heartbroken when I found out that they no longer offer the Chicken Yakitori that I always ordered when I was still in college. Now we’ve found another reason to frequent Tokyo Tokyo for their Ramen, which comes in three flavors: Braised Pork, Spicy Chicken, and Tempura Miso.

Tokyo Tokyo Ramen comes in 3 flavors - Braised Pork, Spicy Chicken and Tempura Miso

As the saying goes, “You are what you eat.” Tokyo Tokyo took that to heart and came up with a short quiz to determine which flavor of Ramen best fits your personality. I took the personality test and the result I got was really spot on!

Jollibee Mix-in with Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Kisses

I don’t know anyone who is not fond of Hershey’s Kisses. I prefer to enjoy them by letting them linger on my tongue as the chocolate goodness melts in my mouth. So, when we found out Jollibee came out with their new Sundae Mix-in with Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Kisses, we immediately wanted to try it.

Good thing there’s a nearby Jollibee here in Malabon. Okay, not really nearby – a tricycle and a jeep away is what we meant by that. 😀 We received gift certificates to try their new Mix-in, so we had lunch with my BFF Jasmin and our nanay’s BFF, Tita Beth. We all were eager to try the mix-ins, but we haven’t had lunch yet so we decided to order their chicken meals first.

We were all surprised to know that Jollibee now offers buttered corn and mashed potato alongside your ChickenJoy with rice orders (SuperValue Meal also comes with a drink and sundae). They also have bucket meals now that include these side dishes. Of course, Ken and I picked 2-piece ChickenJoy with rice. 😀
