Live Without Regrets with Metrobank’s Prepaid Card!

Ever since Ken and I started working online, we have enjoyed all the perks of staying at home for work. So we are all for convenience nowadays, especially when we go out to shop or on a food trip. As much as possible, we avoid long lines at the ATM. That’s why it was definitely good news to hear about the all-new Metrobank Prepaid Card.

Metrobank Prepaid Card - Mastercard

Imagine enjoying all the advantages of a debit card and the perks of a credit card, but with more security and safer features, plus a more convenient application process. That’s what the Metrobank Prepaid Card is all about. Oh, and it’s a MasterCard! So you can use this even when you prefer online shopping.

We were invited to the launch of the prepaid card at Vyne restaurant (of Hyve) at BGC, which also happens to be a partner merchant. There, we learned more about the features of the Metrobank Prepaid Card that we know you’ll all be excited about. First, let us tell you about our experience using the card.

At the launch event, while chatting with the Metrobank team, we enjoyed a 3-course dinner at Vyne. These were the dishes we got to try, starting with the Arugula Salad with goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. It was delicately flavored enough to whet one’s appetite. The Butter Chicken Schnitzel with potato puree, arugula, lemon and mushroom jus. We finished this off in no time. Flavorful and juicy chicken. Mmmm! πŸ™‚

For dessert, Chocolate Cake served with walnuts. I love the presentation and it was quite decadent too!

The next day, Ken and I, along with our mom, decided to head out to give this card a try. First, we had an early dinner at Seryé Café Filipino, one of their partner merchants. It’s a Filipino restaurant that features dishes popularized by well-known Filipino chefs and families in the food and beverage industry, like Reyes’ Barbecue. They have branches in QC Circle and Eastwood City, Libis. We headed to the latter, and thankfully, we were seated right away.

The restaurant has these posters on the tables letting Metrobank cardholders know that they get perks when they pay using their card. Of course, we used ours and we got a FREE dessert! Check out some of the dishes we enjoyed at Seryé. We’ll have a separate post about them here.

Since Metrobank’s Prepaid Card encourages you to Live Without Regrets, we ordered Serye’s Boneless Crispy Pata. Yes, BONELESS, so you get all the meaty goodness in every bite. πŸ˜€

We also ordered their Sisig and Kare-Kare, which were both flavorful.

Nanay kept on insisting on getting the Halo-Halo for dessert, so we wanted her to Live Without Regrets and ordered it for her. πŸ˜‰ We did help her finish half of it since we were already full. πŸ˜€

And, for our complimentary dessert for using the Metrobank Prepaid Card, we were served this lovely Pineapple Pie.

After our sumptuous dinner at Serye, we went straight to SM North Edsa to go shopping for groceries and a new microwave. Ken’s been wanting to buy a new one with digital controls for his cooking, so it was pretty timely that our old one broke just 2 days before. We love our new GE microwave!

We used our Metrobank MasterCard prepaid card for this and we didn’t experience any hassle. We did get asked how they should use it since it says ‘prepaid card’ and it was something new to the people at the counter, but they understood that it works like a credit card.

We also bought a few things for Ken. He just started his own small home-based business – Chef Ken’s – and he needed some ingredients and tools for his next batch of orders. We used the Metrobank Prepaid Card at National Bookstore and SM Hypermarket. All the transactions were pretty smooth. πŸ™‚

10 Reasons Why You’ll Love Metrobank’s Prepaid Card

Here are just some of the reasons why we liked this new Metrobank Prepaid Card.

  • Accepted in any MasterCard affiliated establishment. You can use it as a credit card, even for online purchases!
  • Security when buying stuff online. You don’t have to reveal your debit card or real credit card information online. You can simply use this prepaid card like a credit card to make payments to online stores.
  • More control over your budget or finances. You can set aside a certain amount per month using this prepaid card for things like groceries, dining out or even for traveling.
  • No required maintaining balance!
  • No need to carry actual cash anymore. For many of us, it’s a concern bringing large amounts of money when we need to buy a gadget, go shopping or when we’re traveling. Plus, withdrawing a large amount of money can be a li’l scary during payday. With this card, you don’t have to think too much about it.
  • You can withdraw the money you deposited to this card using any ATM. Cool, eh? The ATM withdrawal limit is set to Php 10,000 per transaction, like other ATM cards. Up to 3 withdrawals per day.
  • I’m not a fan of credit cards, so we prefer using this Metrobank Prepaid Card because you only get to spend the money you ACTUALLY have. I think we should make that one of our 2014 resolutions. πŸ™‚
  • Don’t you just hate the longgggg lines at the ATM during payday or when there’s a big sale at the malls? With this prepaid card, you can transfer money from your Metrobank account and use the card to pay for whatever you’re shopping for. Very convenient. πŸ™‚ This is especially useful when there’s a big sale and you want to be the first to take advantage of the huge discounts.
  • They have partnered with many establishments across Metro Manila, and they even have partner merchants in Cebu. We were told during the launch that they have a long lineup of partners coming soon.

These partner merchants offer Metrobank Prepaid cardholders exciting perks such as free desserts (like what happened over dinner at Serye), discounts and other freebies! Some of their partner merchants include Cole Haan, Hyve and Vyne, M Cafe, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, Rocketroom, Stella, Terraz, Serye, Momo, and more!

    1. Hi, Regina! We’re not sure about the rewards system, but that’s a very good question. We’ll ask them about it and we’ll get back to you.

The only thing we know is you get perks like freebies or discounts at their partner merchants.

        1. Regina, we just got word from Metrobank peeps that there’s no reward system for this card. Only the discounts and freebies you get at partner merchants.
